Come Play!

Who’s playing, winning and scoring at ComePlayDetroit

With our Winter leagues coming to a close, we are now entering the PLAYOFFS for our Men’s Basketball Leagues, and our Co-ed Volleyball League!

Here are some highlights for our most recent leagues:

Co-ed Bowling at Hartfield Lanes

The Fall League concluded in early February with a showdown between the top two teams for the Championship. In the end, Team Keep It Shtegen, with Jerry Wayne, 29, Michael Weinstock, 29, Dan Morton, 29, and Matt Cohen, 30, pulled out the three-game sweep of team JAMS (Stefanie Elson, 30, Matt Owen, 29, Adam Jahnke, 28, and Justin Jacobs, 29) for their first ComePlayDetroit Championship!

Men’s Recreational Basketball

On Feb. 28 were the first two rounds of the Playoffs!  In one of the most exciting endings to a game in CPD history, Team Bloomfield Cleaners, led by team captain Wadim Sologub, 29, hit a half court 3-point shot at the buzzer to send his team to the semi-finals over team Karchon. The Semi-Finals and Championship are next Tuesday at the West Bloomfield JCC, starting at 9 p.m.!

Men’s DRAFT Basketball

In the second to last game of the regular season, we had one of our best story lines of the year when Team Benzinga’s starting shooting guard, Dr. Isaac Kaufman, 29, coming from the birth of his child, Zoe Kaufman, 1 week old, tied a league record for most 3-pointers made in a game with six… in the first 25 minutes! On behalf of all of us at ComePlayDetroit, we say MAZEL TOV to the entire Kaufman family! The Championship will take place on Sunday, March 18, at the West Bloomfield JCC at 10 a.m.

Co-ed Volleyball

The first round of the playoffs began on Monday, Feb. 27. The defending champions, led by Nat Clark, 24, and Samantha Steckloff, 27, look to continue their reign of dominance, but not without a battle from the new No. 1 seed, captained by Jared Matz, 29. The Championship will be in three weeks, on Monday, March 19, at the Oak Park JCC at 7p.m.

Registration for our Spring/Summer leagues is available online at Meet new people, expand your world, COMEPLAY!
