The Latest Scoop From ComePlayDetroit…

ComePlayDetroit’s Winter Leagues have come to a close with great finishes!

In the Men’s Draft Basketball League, celebrated team captain Ryan Goodman’s birthday by defeating Quicken Loans in one semi-final game with a 34-31 victory in overtime on a Ryan Goodman 3-pointer. Team Ambassador defeated the No. 1 seed, MileRail, in the semifinals and went on to defeat in overtime with a 58-57 victory in the most exciting championship game in league history. Mike Sternberg scored (after catching an air ball from me) with less than 10 seconds left for the game-winning points!

In the Men’s Bring Your Own Team Basketball League, the team captained by Nat Clark won the championship over Brian Shulman’s team.

In the Co-ed Volleyball League, Nat Clark and his team, Gingervitis, took home another championship with a 3-game-to-1 victory over Jared Matz’s team. This was Gingervitis’ second straight Co-ed Volleyball championship!

Off The Court

We at ComePlayDetroit would like to congratulate two ComePlayDetroit couples on their recent engagements.

Congrats to Adam Cosola and Sandy Victor! Adam participates in kickball, softball and basketball, and Sandy has been playing kickball since the leagues began.

Also, congrats go out to Warren White and Samantha Borden. Warren and Samantha both participate in kickball and bowling. Samantha is a Toronto transplant we have embraced into our community with open arms.

We would also like to wish Nat Clark the best of luck as he takes a new job opportunity in Indianapolis and look forward to him returning back to Detroit soon, which he plans to do after gaining some work experience.

Justin Jacobs is founder of ComePlayDetroit. Register for the upcoming sessions of ComePlayDetroit leagues, including kickball, softball, volleyball, basketball, flag football and tennis, online at
