The latest scoop from ComePlay Detroit.
ComePlayDetroit (CPD) finished 2012 with its largest event EVER! On Saturday, Dec. 22, CPD hosted the Detroit Lions halftime show. The game was nationally televised on ESPN as its weekly Monday Night Football game. The event showcased the partnership between Playworks, a national nonprofit that brings recess back to the school in order to fight childhood obesity, and the Detroit Lions and their Play60 initiative, which encourages kids to be active for 60 minutes a day. In front of more than 60,000 fans in attendance — and the millions on TV — more than 400 kids, 10-13 years old, participated in jumprope, hula hoops and a game of tag that utilized the entire football field. We’d like to say thank you to the 60+ volunteers who helped make the event a huge success.
ComePlayDetroit is kicking off 2013 with a bang!
On Tuesday, Jan. 22, CPD hosted our first co-ed broomball league at Campus Martius in Downtown Detroit presented by Quicken Loans and Honigman.
Broomball is like floor hockey — but on the ice. Players try to run around in shoes, not skates, trying to score goals against each other. The combination makes for a lot of fun.
There are teams from Quicken Loans, Honigman, Deloitte, Detroit Venture Partners, University of Detroit Dental School, Wayne State Law School, Challenge Detroit and others.
