Fressing With Fishman: Steve & Rocky’s Rollback
Chefs Charles “Rocky” Rachwitz and Steve Allen are celebrating a combined 42 years in the restaurant business this month. To celebrate, the partners are rolling back prices at their sister restaurants, Rocky’s of Northville (41122 W. Seven Mile Road) and Steve & Rocky’s in Novi (43150 Grand River).
This year marks 24 years in business for Rocky’s and 18 for Steve & Rocky’s. Through Sept. 10, both restaurants have a number of guest favorites marked down to reflect yesteryear pricing.
Some of those featured items include the Chef Milos mushroom soup, gulf shrimp and lobster fettucine, shrimp and crab cakes, frog legs in casino butter, filet mignon in cognac cream with crispy onions and Great Lakes perch. Items will vary based on market availability.
Chef Rocky says it’s an opportunity to show their guests how much they appreciate their many years of support — as Chef Steve puts it, over the years they’ve become a part of many families in the community and hope you can join them to celebrate the milestone.
Helping Italian Earthquake Victims
Last week, following the devastating earthquake in central Italy, local Chef Luciano DelSignore challenged area restaurateurs to help do something for the people of Amatrice — the city at the epicenter of the disaster is also the birthplace of the famous pasta dish Spaghetti all’Amatriciana and home to some of the peninsula’s finest cuisine.
In an effort to raise necessary relief funds for the city and surrounding areas, the Bacco Ristorante chef has asked his colleagues to join him in putting the dish on their menu for the month of September for just $15. He also asked that all proceeds from its sale be pooled to help hit a fundraising goal of $50,000.
To date, 40 restaurants have committed to be a part of the fundraising effort. Now this is where you come in. All you have to do is work up an appetite, head to a participating restaurant, place your order and enjoy.
Some of the restaurants participating include Andiamo (all locations), Assaggi Bistro (Ferndale), Bacco Ristorante (Southfield), Bella Piatti (Birmingham), Bigalora (all locations), La Strada Dolci e Caffe (Birmingham), the Stand (Birmingham), Tre Monti Ristorante (Troy) and Vinsetta Garage (Royal Oak).
