David Shtulman has decided to retire from his position as executive director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Ann Arbor as of June 30, 2017. He served dedicatedly for nine years with the Ann Arbor Federation and the Jewish community. Among his accomplishments: initiating the Michael Levine Fellows Program to help create the next generation of leaders in the community, creating the Jewish Community Impact Fund, which has allowed individuals and agencies to strengthen community through novel programs and events; and supporting and growing many successful programs, including the Michigan Israel Business Bridge and the Eastern Michigan University Center for Jewish Studies.

Former District Court Judge Jodi Debbrecht Switalski has joined Lippitt O’Keefe Gornbein PLLC as an of-counsel attorney focused on legal issues related to opioid abuse. A legal expert in the field of substance abuse and addiction, Switalski served as a Michigan district court judge from 2010 until 2016 and previously was as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Macomb County. She also is the founder of Switalski Consulting LLC, a firm providing evidence-based controlled-substance agreements, as well as risk evaluation and mitigation strategies for medical practices.
Brett Powell, 31, received three honors recently. He was acknowledged by the Wellness Councils of America, a prestigious nonprofit organization, as being one of the Top 50 Health Promotion Professionals in the United States. He was also voted to be on the Michigan Wellness Council Board of Directors. Finally, he was asked to give a speech on generational health and wellness at an international Art and Science of Health Promotion Conference being held in Colorado Springs in March. Brett has been involved in the wellness field for 10 years and presently serves as a vice president at the American Institute for Preventive Medicine in Farmington Hills. He has also been active in The Well, where he helped organize Rosh Hashanah on the River at Shane Park.

Gary Nitzkin announced the rebranding and expansion of his law firm. Michigan Consumer Credit Lawyers is now Credit Repair Lawyers of America. The firm has expanded into Arizona and, most recently, into Georgia.
The Network of Non-Profit Search Consultants, a Chicago, Ill.-based consortium of top executive search firms who recruit for the nonprofit sector, has named Gary Dembs as its first board chairman. Dembs, CEO of the Non-Profit Personnel Network, a Southfield–based firm, will lead the group’s executive committee. Dembs of Huntington Woods has been consulting with nonprofits since 1980. He serves the Detroit area community through his volunteer leadership on the boards of Common Ground and Reading Works and is a mentor with the Council of Michigan Foundations and the Association of Fundraising Professionals–Greater Detroit Chapter.
