ORT And The City: Fundraiser Generates More Than $100,000

The Jewish News

For the third year running, supporters of ORT attended the “ORT and the City” fundraiser to celebrate art, culture and ORT. Held on May 18 in Shed 5 at Eastern Market, nearly 400 attendees gathered for an evening of cocktails and a strolling dinner served via food trucks. A silent auction featured chairs designed by nationally recognized Detroit artists hand selected and sponsored by high-profile, local art collectors and gallerists.

This year’s fundraiser generated more than $100,000, which helps sustain ORT’s mission to provide students from the most impoverished communities the highest level of science and technology education and the skills needed to escape poverty and achieve economic self-sufficiency.

Jessica Kwartowitz, Deborah Rosenthal and Marlo Scott served as event co-chairs and were supported by a diverse Planning and Host Committee, in addition to an Art Advisory Council.
