On Jan. 17, Jewish students from Oakland Community College enjoyed pizza and ping-pong provided by Hillel of Metro Detroit (HMD).
MSU Hillel’s First Year Student Board planned a relaxation night during finals week. Participants included freshmen Sophie Dwoskin, West Bloomfield; Hannah Margolis, Scotch Plains, N.J.; Carly Gartenberg, Springfield, N.J.; Sara Brett and Rachel Hirsch, both of West Bloomfield; and Caroline Strauss, Farmington Hills.
CMU Tu b’Shevat event: sophomores Hanna Clark, Chelsea; Angela Reich, Saginaw; Jason Gelsey, West Bloomfield; Max Miller, Birmingham; Megan Groat, Oxford; and Anna VanArsdale Hoot, Okemos.
In January, U-M Hillel’s environmental and sustainability group, Hayerukim, celebrated Tu b’Shevat with acai bowls. Noa Gafni, U-M Hillel‘s Jewish Agency for Israel Fellow, and Rebecca Grbinich, U-M Hillel‘s Social Justice Springboard Fellow, create theirs. ents learned about the holiday and discussed how to honor trees.
On Jan. 11, Jewish students from Hillel of Metro Detroit’s six college campuses came together to play whirlyball in Novi to celebrate the beginning of the new winter semester at HMD’s Welcome Back whirlyball event.
