s'mores BBQ pit

As the weather starts to get hot and summer nights are in full force, one thing comes to my mind during this transition. There is nothing like getting together with close family and friends on a cool summer night after a long day at a beach and having a BBQ reminiscing on good times. And there’s nothing better than cooking up delicious kosher meals you won’t want to take the last bite of because they’re so good!

Now, we all know no BBQ is complete in the summer without a bonfire, but what if you don’t have access to a bonfire and still want the satisfaction of those yummy, gooey s’mores?

I recently discovered a great answer to this important dilemma. S’mores Challah Panini is a recipe I found on Joyofkosher.com by Jamie Keller. This dessert is easy, delicious and only contains 5 ingredients.

Put down the sticks, pack your bonfire away and get your ego going, because this recipe will have your friends and family raving until the end of time.

The whole process will only take about 20 minutes with a cooking time around 10 minutes (depending on your preference of the texture of your marshmallow). It will serve 4 people, but you can double the ingredients if you plan to throw a larger party.

The ingredients and measurements listed on the website are:

  • 8 slices of challah, about ½ inches thick (can be thicker if you want a larger s’mores sandwich)
  • ⅓ cup of chocolate nut spread (modify for nut allergies)
  • 4 (3-ounce) chocolate bars
  • 8 marshmallows
  • 2 bananas, sliced thin

To prep these s’mores, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or if you have access to a panini press, set the temperature to medium.

Next, place the chocolate bar, 2 of the marshmallows and a thinly sliced banana onto one piece of challah. From there, take another piece of challah and spread the chocolate nut spread on it. Then combine both pieces to make a sandwich.

Lastly, brown the sandwiches for about 5 to 7 minutes.
