Start your vocal warm-ups, everyone! Pick out your go-to karaoke song! Sid’s Request Room is coming to downtown Detroit this fall.
It was recently announced that the New York karaoke and piano bar would be opening a new location in downtown Detroit’s Siren Hotel. The Siren Hotel already has a jam-packed ground floor, featuring several bars, restaurants and even a coffee shop. Sid’s Request Room will join Populace Coffee, Candy Bar, Karl’s diner & bakery and Albena in the Wurlitzer Building location (1509 Broadway Street).
Sid’s Request Room allows patrons to request their favorite karaoke songs, no matter the genre. According to their site, they play pop, rock, soul and even punk. A live pianist will also accompany the performances. The bar will feature regular burlesque performances, too.
Bringing Sid’s Request Room to Detroit has been a longtime dream for Paul Devitt and Joe McGinty. The pair has been trying to find a spot ever since a regular of the Chelsea location suggested the idea. The business partners originally eyed a Corktown spot, but ultimately decided you just can’t beat downtown Detroit.
Construction is set to begin soon, with an opening date slated for October of this year. Sid’s Request Room aims to be a nightlife staple, with music inspired cocktails and killer happy hour deals.
One thing is for sure — I’m super excited for this spot to open up. I may not be good at karaoke (who is?), but I love a good karaoke bar.
