Matthew Whitaker, newly named acting attorney general of the U.S., appointed by President Donald Trump after the firing of Jeff Sessions last week, has said that judges needed a “biblical view of justice” and questioned the judgment of non-religious lawyers.

He made the remarks to a conservative forum in April 2014. When asked whether he required a “Levitical or New Testament” view of justice, Whitaker specified the New Testament.
