Shir Shalom Shabbat Service to Celebrate the Gift of Life

World-renowned liver transplant surgeon Dr. Marwan Abouljoud, director of the Henry Ford Transplant Institute, and Rev. Patrick Gahagen, a 20-year lung¬† transplant recipient, will lead this moving service hosted by Temple Shir Shalom’s Rabbi Michael Moskowitz at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at the West Bloomfield synagogue.

As part of the 50th anniversary of transplant at the Henry Ford Transplant Institute, Dr. Abouljoud and Rev. Gahagen will share their stories of hope, love and the gift of life. The event is free and open to the public.

The service is being hosted by transplant recipient Ian Burnstein and his wife, Marcy, along with Michael and Alicia Stillman, whose daughter was an organ donor. Emily was able to donate six of her organs, together with bones and tissue, to save the lives of five others.
