On Dec. 2, the first night of Chanukah, Hillel of Metro Detroit’s Oakland University Jewish Student Organization (JSO) held a Chanukah party at Sunset Terrace, the home of Oakland University’s President Ora Hirsch Pescovitz.

The celebration included a tour of this historic residence, kosher Chanukah-themed hors d’oeuvres, and an opportunity to mix and mingle with other students and community members.

More than 60 people attended, including OU and Wayne State University undergraduate and medical school students, Pescovitz, Rabbi Jeff Ableser, Glenn McIntosh (OU vice president for student affairs and chief diversity officer) and Jean Ann Miller (OU director of student activities and leadership development), and Hillel of Metro Detroit board members and staff.

Students Rachel Glogower, Raz Elyazam, Leah Blatnikoff and Ilyssa Brunhild lit the menorah and led the prayers with Pescovitz and Ableser.
