11/01/2018 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Jackie Headapohl | Detroit Jewish News

Join the Oakland University community on Thursday, November 1 at 5 p.m. for a candlelight vigil at the University’s Elliott Tower.

According to the event page, Jean Ann Miller, Senior Director of the Office for Student Involvement, said “Our student leaders came up with the idea and the event has grown organically over the past 48 hours to the point where we have Christian, Muslim and Jewish groups working together to participate in the vigil.”

Speakers include Oakland University President Ora Hirsch Pescovitz, OU students and faith and community leaders from the area.

This event will also include a ringing of the Elliott Tower bells; “12 times; 11 times for the lives lost in the shooting and one time for all of those injured in the attack.”

Hosted by the OU Student Congress and the Jewish Student Organization (JSO)/Hillel
